Spain: report proposes democratising employee participation
On 2 February, Spanish labour minister Yolanda Diaz presented the conclusions of a report on democracy in the workplace. The document, which calls for employees to be given a say in decision-making bodies and company ownership, is expected to serve as the basis for future legislation. It recommends granting employees up to half of the seats on boards of directors and giving them access to a minimum of 2% of the company’s shares.
