
Sergio González Begega is an Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology, University of Oviedo (Spain), where he is coordinator of the M.A. Programme in History and Sociocultural Analysis. He is also Senior Researcher at the at the Institute of Natural Resources and Landmanagement of the Principality of Asturias (INDUROT) and member of the research networks PROMEBI (UNIOVI), WPE and GoodCorp (ETUI). He has enjoyed research fellowships at MBS (Manchester), ETUI (Brussels), CSU-CNRS (Paris) and IPP-CSIC and UCM (Madrid).
His research lines include industrial relations, with special attention to the participation of workers in corporate restructuring processes, and comparative social policy. More recently, he has initiated a line of work on Urban Sociology, which has materialized in various technical assistance projects on housing for Public Administrations. From 2019 to 2022 he was PI of the EU-funded research project Social Dialogue in the Transforming Economy (SODITREC), funded by the EU Commission, DG for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, funding scheme Industrial Relations and Social Dialogue.
He has published articles in international journals such as Employee Relations, Economic and Industrial Democracy, Social Policy & Administration, Social Movement Studies, Employee Relations and Transfer, among others. He has also published He has also published in some of the leading national academic journals in the fields of Sociology and Political Science, namely REIS, RIS, RES and Empiria, among others. He has also participated in edited books with Oxford University Press, Edward Elgar, Routledge, McGraw-Hill and Peter Lang, among others.
